Sunday 30th March 2008
Adisham 0 New Inn 3

Our toughest game of the season, and just when we needed lady luck..........she deserted us!!!!

We had all the play for sixty minutes. 2 goal line clearances, a couple of really good chances and a puzzling disallowed goal.

To top it all, Simmy had to come of at half time with a badly dislocated finger. Anthony was his replacement and did the best he could but with some decisions not going our way and a couple of momentary lapses of concentration New Inn took full advantage.

The main story of the game, they put their chances away and the one that we did got ruled out!!!

On a positive note, Wheelers could only draw 1-1 with Bridge which means that we are guaranteed 2nd place and promotion to the dizzy heights of Division 2!!

Team: Simmy (Tim Binks 45), Tom Wiltshire, Sam Fisher, Anthony Jackson, Terry Blackman, Terry Jefferies, Danny Bushell, Marc Fisher, Sam Mcdonald, Garry Ripley, Matthew Deeble.

Sunday 23rd March 2008
Adisham 3 Blean Sunday 2

This was a game that everyone expected us to lose, none more so than the management team.

Five first teamers were away for the Easter break and we had to draft in some non-regulars, including a full ninety minute stint for myself!!

We didn't get off to a good start as Blean went ahead after five minutes through a free kick which Simmy only managed to palm into his own net. Then the heavens opened with a blizzard. Which somehow seemed to help us.

We drew level when Sam Mcdonald latched onto a through ball and struck his shot sweetly into the bottom corner. The half ended 1 - 1.

We performed much better in the second half and took the lead when Sam made another good run and slid the ball under the on-rushing keeper. We increased our lead when Marc Fisher made a run down the left, got to the by-line and got the ball across the box for Danny Bushell to knock in from two yards.

Then came a couple of blips in our performance. First there was a booking for Marc '2 footed lunge' Fisher. Tim Binks then had to go off with cramp and unfortunately the only replacement was Chris James!!

With a minute to go, Blean lofted a free kick into the box and Chris did his best to get to the ball first but this meant he had to push the a Blean player to the ground to get there. Penalty!!! The Blean keeper stepped up and put the ball comfortably past Simmy.

Overall a great result and an outstanding performance despite our depleted numbers.

A special mention has to go to Craig James who, making his debut for the Nomads, had an outstanding game, playing on the left wing and takes the award for man of the match by a clear mile.

Team: Simmy, Tom Wiltshire, Tim Binks (Chris James 80), Anthony Jackson, Terry Blackman, Lee Prior, Danny Bushell, Marc Fisher, Craig James, Sam Mcdonald, Spencer Golding.

Sunday 2nd March 2008
Adisham 2 Chimney Boy 1

Not quite sure what it is about Chimney Boy, but we have played them 3 times now and we could have had no complaints if we hadn't beat them once!!!

We look lacklustre in midfield and there is a complete lack of hunger up front and if we play this way against anyone else, we will get spanked!

It was a hard fought first half with very few chances and when the whistle went for half-time it was still 0-0. It was a good 25 minutes into the second half when the deadlock was finally broken.

Fisher went on a mazy run and managed to work his way into the opposition's box, he felt a breeze pass his laces and performed a theatrical fall. The whistle went and we all thought the ref was going to book him for diving. But, low and behold, he pointed to the spot.

Garry Stepped up and coolly slotted home his 29th of the season. A huge sigh of relief came from the manager and the supporters.

The second was a goal of extreme class, Garry challenged for a long ball from defence and managed to beat Chimney back line and get to the byline. He cut back inside and crossed the ball with the outside of his right foot. It was a pin point cross which found Deeble's head. He nodded back to Dan on the edge of the box and his half volley found the top corner.

Unfortunately we couldn't keep a clean sheet. Terry Blackman, who should have been dismissed earlier for a professional foul, managed to deflect a Chimney Boy cross into his own goal. What a plank!!

Team: Simmy, Tom Wiltshire (Tim Binks 60), Anthony Jackson, Sam Fisher, Terry Blackman, Danny Bushell, Marc Fisher, Terry Jefferies, Sam Mcdonald, Garry Ripley, Matthew Deeble.

Sunday 17th February 2008
Courtenay Res 3 Adisham 8

Not great for the old blood pressure this one and scoreline certainly doesn't tell the whole story!!

We were 4 - 1 up at the break with a hat trick in half an hour for Liam and one for Garry Ripley. In the second half Courtenay came out fighting and we allowed them to claw back to 4-3.

Then an inspired substitution by Chris changed the whole game. Tim Binks came on for Marc Fisher and the team came to life.

A goal a piece for Dan Bushell and Sam Mcdonald and 2 more for Liam to take his tally to 5 took us out of sight of any further Courtenay comeback.

Team: Simmy, Tom Wiltshire, Anthony Jackson, Sam Fisher, Terry Blackman, Danny Bushell, Marc Fisher (Tim Binks 55), Liam Quinn, Sam Mcdonald, Garry Ripley (Lee Prior 80), Matthew Deeble.

Sunday 10th February 2008
Chimney Boy 1 Adisham 2

This was one of those frustrating games that has caused me to lose my hair at a very young age. It also does very little to help Chris's wrinkles!!!!!

We came, we played sh*t and we robbed Chimney Boy of a well deserved place in the semi finals!

From the kick off we looked like a team who had never played together before.  We were outplayed and outmuscled in midfield and could not string more than 2 passes together.

Chimney Boy took the lead from the spot after Terry Blackman was adjudged to have handled in the area. They lead at the break.

The second half wasn't a lot better and were lucky to draw level when Garry Ripley prodded home from close range.

We secured progression to the next round when Liam managed to get his head to the ball from a corner and nodded it in with the keeper slightly incapacitated!!

Team: Simmy, Tom Wiltshire, Anthony Jackson, Sam Fisher (Tim Binks 55), Terry Blackman, Danny Bushell, Marc Fisher, Liam Quinn, Sam Mcdonald, Garry Ripley, Matthew Deeble.

Sunday 3rd February 2008
Broomfield 4 Adisham 3

Every winning streak has to come to an end and if there was ever a place you wanted it to stop, it would be an away match to the the 2nd placed team in the whole league!!

And this was by no means a stroll in the park for the Premiership side. Okay they took the lead inside the first couple of minutes and most of us were thinking 'Oh God, here we go'!

Them taking the lead seemed to spur us into action. Matt Deeble picked the ball up on the halfway line and skipped past half a dozen Broomfield players before rifling his shot into the back of the net.

We took the lead from a free kick, the ball was lofted in and found Terry Blackman who controlled the ball on his thigh and volleyed past the Broomfield keeper.

We more than held our own until 5 minutes from half time. First Broomfield took a corner and the ball found it's way to a 'Field player on the edge of the box who's shot came back off the bar only to hit Sam Fisher on the back and across the line. Next Simmy misjudged a ball into the box and only suceeded in pushing the ball onto an on-rushing field player who made no mistake in slotting the ball home.

And just before the half time whistle went, a 'Field through ball was chased down by their attacker and Tim Binks. Tim got their first but his clearance fell straight to their player who fired Broomfield into a 4-2 half time lead.

The second half was a much tighter affair with our defence preventing the Broomfield team from increasing their lead. We actually won the second half when Deeble went on another mazy run and unleashed a shot that looked destined for the top corner only for it to take a wicked deflection and loop over the keepers head and into the goal.

Try as we might, we just could not draw level and force the game into extra time. We came close on a coupe of occassions but Broomfield held out for the win.

A great performance in a test which clearly shows that we can hold our own against teams at the top of our league. Well done lads, you can hold your heads high.

Team: Simmy, Tom Wiltshire, Anthony Jackson (Lee Prior 55), Sam Fisher, Terry Blackman, Danny Bushell, Marc Fisher, Sam Mcdonald (Liam Quinn 75), Tim Binks, Garry Ripley, Matthew Deeble.

Sunday 27th January 2008
Adisham FC 6 Jadon Blues 0

That is now 11 competitive wins on the bounce scoring a total of 74 goals and conceding only 6!!!!

This was more of a stroll in the park than a football match. Jadon lacked any cutting edge and their lack of threat seemed to cause our team to play at walking pace.

Three goals in each half with Garry Ripley getting another 4 to add to his tally and Danny Bushell and Terry Blackman getting the other 2.

If they had upped their enthusiasm and really gone for the jugular, who knows what the score could have been.

But we're not greedy, six is enough.......isn't it???

Team: Simmy, Tom Wiltshire, Anthony Jackson, Sam Fisher, Terry Blackman, Danny Bushell, Marc Fisher, Sam Mcdonald, Liam Quinn (Tim Binks 10), Garry Ripley, Matthew Deeble (Lee Prior 75).

Sunday 6th January 2008
Adisham FC 7 Gentil Knyght 1

What a way to start the New Year, a convincing cup win over a team 2 divisions above us.

To say they were one of the most aggressive sides we have come up against would be a bit of an understatement, as I am sure Marc Fisher would testify!!!

They literally tried to stamp their authority on the game but, as they jumped in, we kept our heads and played them off the park. They picked up 3 bookings in all but probably should have been reduced to nine men in the first half after Marc Fisher was stamped on and then elbowed.

Gary Ripley took his tally for the season to 22 with 4 more. Danny Bushell kept up his scoring streak with a brace and Matthew Deeble got the other.

We have now scored 73 competitive goals so far this season!!

Team: Simmy, Tim Binks, Anthony Jackson, Sam Fisher, Terry Blackman, Danny Bushell, Marc Fisher, Sam Mcdonald, Liam Quinn, Garry Ripley, Matthew Deeble.

Sunday 30th December 2007
Adisham FC 10 Bridge FC 1

10 straight wins, what a great way to cap off a wonderful year.

More great flowing football proved too much for a Bridge side that never showed any signs of getting anything from the game.

There was a hat trick for Liam, a brace For Dan and singles for Garry Ripley, Matthew Deeble, Marc Fisher and Sam Mcdonald.

There was also one for Sam Fisher, who seems to think his goal requires a special mention. The ball came off his shin and managed to avoid the grasp of Bridge's rather inept keeper. Hope that is ok for you Sam!!

Another fantastic performance which has seen us reach double figures for the second time this season.

Team: Simmy, Andy Mount (Cptn) (Lee Prior 70), Anthony Jackson, Sam Fisher, Terry Blackman, Danny Bushell, Marc Fisher (Tom Wiltshire 45), Sam Mcdonald (Tim Binks 45), Liam Quinn, Garry Ripley, Matthew Deeble.

Sunday 16th December 2007
Adisham FC 5 Wheelers FC 1

That is now 9 wins on the bounce for the mighty Nomads and the way we are playing at the moment I can't see anyone beating us again this season!!

With some key players out, Terry Jefferies (inj), Matt Deeble (ill) and Terry Blackman (inj), we struggled to gain control of the game in the first half. We took the lead early on through Garry Ripley but didn't manage to extend our lead any further befire wheelers equalised. The half ended all square.

Terry Blackman was decalred fit for the second half and came on up front with great effect. Dan was switched to the wing, swapping with fisher and the impact was outstanding. Garry picked up another couple of goals in amongst goals by Sam Mcdonald and Andy Mount.

An good overall performance even with key players missing!

Team: Simmy, Andy Mount (Cptn) Anthony Jackson, Sam Fisher, Tom Wiltshire (Adam Mcdonald 70), Danny Bushell, Marc Fisher, Sam Mcdonald, Liam Quinn, Garry Ripley, Lee Prior (Terry Blackman 45).

Sunday 2nd December 2007
Bekesbourne Res 1 Adisham FC 3

I won't go into too much detail about this one as I wasn't there, people will tell you that I was hungover from a heavy session the night before........Do no believe a word of it!!!!

In bloody awful apocalyptic conditions, Bekesbourne put up a good fight but were no match for our class.

1 goal for Sam Mcdonald and 2 for Man of the Match, Danny Bushell sealed a further 3 points for the mighty Nomads!!

This win has taken us to 2nd in league our highest position of the season.

This Sunday we face Courtneay Res at Wingham.

Sunday 18th November 2007
Preston Street 0 Adisham FC 8

That is now six wins on the bounce, scoring 43 goals, conceding 2 with Simmy keeping 4 clean sheets!!

It was an excellent game in which we played some outstanding football.

The scoring began when Terry Blackman stepped to take a free kick 20 yards out. Liam feigned to take it which caused the keeper to go behind his wall and Terry slotted the ball in to the other corner.

Next Marc Fisher ran into the box to meet Dan's long throw and knocked the ball in with his back!! The third goal was total football, Liam received the ball from Fisher, his pass found Terry Jefferies who subsequently popped the ball round a defender for Dan. His slide rule pass foun Matt Deeble in space and he made no mistake in sliding the ball past the on rushing keeper and into the corner.

Dan got the next 2 rushing onto a through ball and prodding home for his first and then, after some great work from Tom, found the ball at his feet in the box and managed to weave it through all the bodies and in off the post. The half finished 0-5.

It took a while for us to get going again in the 2nd half but introducing Garry to the game livened things up again. He got his first of 2 when the Preston Street defence gifted him the ball and he prodded home from ten yards.

Liam got the 7th when he picked up the ball 20 yards out and unleashed a rocket of a shot that beat the keeper, hit the post and found the back of the net.

Garry got his 2nd and our 8th when Deeble worked his way, with the ball, to the right hand side of the box he squared to Garry and rifled his shot past the keeper.

One of our best performances by far.

Team: Simmy, Terry Blackman, Andy Mount, Sam Fisher (Lee Prior 60), Anthony Jackson (Tom Wiltshire 35), Marc Fisher, Liam Quinn, Sam Mcdonald (Garry Ripley 60), Terry Jefferies, Danny Bushell, Matthew Deeble.

Sunday 11th November 2007
Chimney Boy 0 Adisham FC 2

The most one sided two nil you are ever likely to see.

Our fifth win on the bounce saw us hardly break a sweat. Although Chimney Boy were quite good at getting the ball down and passing it in midfield, they had no answer to our rock solid defence who allowed them only the one shot which went well wide.

It was a minute before half time when we took the lead. Sam McDonald made an excellent run down the left wing, leaving two defenders in his wake, Sam Fisher latched onto the through ball and emphatically blasted into the top corner with his left foot from 12 yards.

The 2nd goal came from a cross from the halfway line from Terry Blackman which a Chimney Boy defender very kindly placed past his wrong footed keeper.

Some of the football in the 2nd half was absolutely sublime, with some of the slick passing completely cutting open the Chimney Boy defence. With some better luck (and composure in front of goal) we could have made our goal difference look even better.

But take nothing away from the boys, they all put on an extremely promising performance.

Team: Simmy, Terry Blackman, Andy Mount, Sam Fisher, Tom Wiltshire (Adam Mcdonald 80), Anthony Jackson, Marc Fisher, Liam Quinn, Sam Mcdonald, Garry Ripley, Matthew Deeble.

Sunday 4th November 2007
Jadon Blues 1 Adisham FC 9

What a great couple of weeks it has been. In our last 3 games we have scored 30 goals and ony conceded 1!!!!

And with our new strike force picking up 7 goals a piece in these games, the future looks good for the mighty Adisham Nomads.

I would go through and describe each goal, but i can't remember all of them!!! We went 0 - 2 up in the first half through Garry Ripley Ripley. Jadon pulled 1 back from a corner which was nodded past the unsighted Simmy.

We scored 3 more in the first half, going into the second 1- 5 up. Four more were scored in the 2nd half taking our tally to 9.

Both Garry Ripley and Matthew Deeble picked up 4 goals each with the other coming from Danny Bushell.

Team: Simmy, Terry Blackman, Andy Mount, Sam Fisher (Adam Mcdonald 60), Anthony Jackson, Terry Jefferies, Marc Fisher (Danny Bushell 45), Liam Quinn, Sam Mcdonald, Garry Ripley, Matthew Deeble.

Sunday 28th October 2007
Blean 0 Adisham FC 20!!

At last a game where we can say we put most of our chances away!!

Our goal difference has now rocketed onto plus 16 thanks to this amazing goal fest!!

I won't go into too much detail other than to name the scorers and some choice moments.

One of the highlights had to our keeper, Simmy, stepping up to curl home a sweet free kick from 20 yards. Another highlight was a debut hat trick for Matthew Deeble who looks to be everythig we have been looking for in a striker.

The Scorers were as follows, Hat Tricks for:

Terry Blackman, Simmy, Garry Ripley and Matthew Deeble.

And then one a piece for:

Sam Mcdonald, Marc Fisher, Sam Fisher, Lee Prior, Andy Mount, Danny Bushell, Terry Jefferies and Tim Binks.

Please click on the below link to watch video of Simmy's outstanding free kick.

Team: Simmy, Terry Blackman, Andy Mount, Sam Fisher, Anthony Jackson (Lee Prior 60), Danny Bushell, Terry Jefferies, Marc Fisher (Matthew Deeble 45), Liam Quinn, Sam Mcdonald (Tim Binks 45), Garry Ripley.

Sunday 21st October 2007
Adisham Nomads 1 Whitstable Wndrs 0

2 Wins in 2 weeks, and only our 2nd clean sheet in 2 seasons!!

A very tight affair, although again we should have been running away with it in the first 20 minutes with Garry Ripley being the guiltiest party by far, missing at least 3 great chances.

He eventually found the back of the net for the only goal of the game on the stroke of half time.

We rode our luck in the 2nd half with Wndrs having some good chances to level the match, but in Simmy they came up against a keeper in fine form. He marshalled his area excellently and made a number of great saves to deny the visitors.

Thankfully we held on to our lead and put ourselves in the next round of the cup, where we will meet another 4th division side, Preston Street on 25th November.

Team: Andy Mount, Terry Blackman, Anthony Jackson, Simmy, Liam Quinn, Garry Ripley (Lee Prior 88), Sam Mcdonald, Marc Fisher, Sam Fisher (Adam Mcdonald 65), Danny Bushell, Terry Jefferies.

Sunday 14th October 2007
Bridge 1 Adisham Nomads 3

At last, something to cheer about!!

A great perfromance that should have seen us put our goal difference into the positive.

We created chances straight from the kick and probably should have been at least 2 up before Bridge were awarded a free kick which was lofted into the area and nodded home by their attacker, with stand in keeper Andy Mount blinded by the brilliant sunshine.

We equalised shortly after when Garry Ripley prodded home from close range. We should have been ahead by the break but were again unable to take our chances. The half finished 1-1.

We spent the 2nd half camped in the Bridge half and went into the lead from the spot when Marc Fisher converted a penalty after a blatant foul in the box.

We further extended our lead and wrapped up the 3 points when Terry Jefferies found Garry Ripley on the edge of the box and his thunder bolt found the back of the net.

A great team performance, long may it continue.

Team: Andy Mount, Terry Blackman, Anthony Jackson, Tom Wiltshire (Simmy 25), Liam Quinn (Lee Prior 85), Garry Ripley, Sam Mcdonald, Marc Fisher (Bkd), Sam Fisher (Bkd), Danny Bushell, Terry Jefferies.

Sunday 30th September 2007
Wheelers 3 Adisham Nomads 2

Another week, another loss. This time, however, we deserved more.

We took the lead in the first minute when Garry Ripley latched onto a ball on the edge of the box and fired home into the bottom corner. Wheelers levelled when a shot looped up, Simmy got his to it but could only palm it onto the bar and into the net.

We took the lead again in the second half from similar circumstances. Garry Ripley, once again, ended up with the ball on the edge of the box, his shot looked set to be claimed comfortably by the keeper until a Wheelers defender stuck his head out and deflected it into the net. The half ended 1-2.

Wheelers equalised again halfway through the 2nd half when the ref awarded them a penalty for a handball in the box. Simmy did his best but the shot, straight down the middle, found the back of the net.

Wheelers secured the 3 points late on when they passed their way through the defence and their striker calmly slotted theball across the keeper into the keeper.

A very encouraging performance despite the defeat.

Team: Simmy, Terry Blackman, Anthony Jackson, Andy Mount, Liam Quinn, Garry Ripley, Sam Mcdonald (Carl Randall 45), Marc Fisher, Sam Fisher (Tim Binks 70),  Danny Bushell, Terry Jefferies.

Sunday 23rd September 2007
Adisham Nomads 3 Bekesbourne Res 5

Twice we took the lead, twice we lost it, then we lost the plot!!

A big local derby matched by a big score. For the first 15 minutes we were completely dominant just completely unable to put away the chances we created.

Thankfully we eventually took the lead when Terry Blackman popped a delightful ball over the 'Bourne defence, Sam McDonald ran onto it and smashed it across the face of goal and into the top corner. We increased our lead to 2 when Terry Blackman passed the ball to Marc Fisher who made short work of the opposition defence, took the ball wide of the goal and unleashed a shot into the bottom corner.

Bekesbourne pulled one back when their striker lost his man to prod home a ball across goal. They equalised shortly before half time when a tame shot was palmed by our keeper in to the path of an oncoming 'Bourne player. Half Time 2 - 2.

We started the 2nd half well enough and when Terry Blackman came out of defence to pick up a loose ball just inside the Bekesbourne half, he struck the ball sweetly towards goal. I don't want to detract from his glory but to say the keeper made a hash of it would be an under statement. It slipped through his grasp and into the back of the net. 3 - 2.

We held onto this score for a while before they equalised again. They then went on to score twice again, with their 4th being a cross that our keeper came to collect and somehow managed to let it slip through his hands into the goal. Their 5th had a suspicion of offside about it but was finished well never the less.

A very disappointing result!!!

Team: Simmy, Terry Blackman, Anthony Jackson, Tim Binks, Carl Randall, Garry Ripley (Spencer Golding 75), Sam Mcdonald, Marc Fisher, Sam Fisher,  Danny Bushell, Terry Jefferies.

Sunday 9th September 2007
New Inn 3 Adisham Nomads 0

What a great Start!!!!!!!!!!!

In case you hadn't guessed, that was sarcasm. Our first league game of season and how many players turn up in time for kick off?..............9!!!!

So that we could start with at least 10, this retired, old and podgy former member of the squad had to step in. I think we would have done better with 9!

Anyway, enough whinging. Considering we had 10 men for the whole of the first half we did pretty well to keep it down to 2-0 at half time. Thankfully, Simmy tunred up at half time and we gave a much better account of ourselves with New Inn only extending their tally to three with the award of a dubious penalty for a supposed handball by Anthony Jackson.

We didn't create much and the highlight was Terry Blackman's backwards looping heading which the New Inn keeper caught on the line.

Team: Simmy, Terry Blackman, Anthony Jackson, Andy Mount, Carl randall, Spencer Golding (Tim Binks 65), Sam Mcdonald, Garry Ripley, Sam Fisher,  Danny Bushell, Terry Jefferies.

Sunday 26th August 2007
Prince of Wales 2 Adisham Nomads 2

Prince of Wales FC are a Premier Division team and only invited us to a friendly to give themselves a morale boost after a mediocre pre-season. I think they got a bit of a shock!!!

We easily matched them and, for long periods of the game, we out played them. We scored two quality goals while theirs were no more than sheer luck.

It took two great saves to deny Danny Bushell an early first half brace. We then went one down when a strike from outside the box crept inside Simmy's near post. It was Marc Fisher who equalised shortly after when he burst through their defence, beating the offside trap, and slotted past their keeper. The half ended 1-1.

We were all over them again in the second half and should have scored at least a couple of goals before a decisive ball into the box fell into the path of Sam Mcdonald who made no mistake in hitting the back of the net.

Unfortunately we were denied the win when, the ball was presented to one of their attackers in the box, who did not look a gift horse in the mouth and prodded the ball home.

Team: Simmy, Terry Blackman, Anthony Jackson, Andy Mount, Phil Wiles, Tim Binks, Sam Mcdonald, Garry Ripley, Marc Fisher, Carl Randall, Chris Cameron, Lee Prior, Luke Ripley, Danny Bushell, Terry Jefferies.

Sunday 12th August 2007
Coach & Horses 1 Adisham Nomads 3

A very comfortable win against some very familiar faces!!

We were a bit short of players for this game so took drastic action, we allowed a 40 year old to play in the centre of defence. That's right Chris James pulled on his boots for the first in god knows how many years and did his bit, only coming off after having played 80 full minutes. In fairness he played pretty well (although there actually wasn't a lot to do!!!)

How we didn't score 10 is beyond me but the win over the the old foe is the most important thing. Liam Quinn got 2 with the other 1 being a screamer from Garry Ripley.

Team: Andy Mount, Anthony Jackson, Terry Blackman, Chris James (Spencer Golding), Sam Fisher, Sam Mcdonald, Marc Fisher, Danny Bushell, Terry Jefferies, Liam Quinn, Garry Ripley.
